LOVE
L-listen
O- open minded and open hearted
V- vulnerable
E- engage with the world around you
New painting inspired by this graduation message given to the high school seniors at my school by Rev. Radmar Jao, S.J..
Of all the things on this list, I am working on truly engaging with people around me. I smile and am kind to people I work with, but the energy is, let’s just smile and get on with it so we can get back to what we are working on. I’d like to be even more open to connection outside of my comfort zone. Of all the things on the list, where can you grow? Hit reply - I really would like to hear :).
This is the biggest painting I have ever painted- found this huge nice canvas at a thrift store with a gold frame and painted over it. I love finding deals at thrift stores. I saved 100s of dollars and didn’t have to go through the time to frame it! If you are interested in this painting, I’d love for you to have it. Just email me…jenclarkcoaching@gmail.com.
What’s In A Name? Our names tell a story. They matter. For the first 20 years of life, when I went anywhere, I ran. I mean maybe not as excessively and emphatically as Forest Gump, but on the level. I preferred running over walking any day.
So, it is fitting that I was named “Running River” when I was 5 years old. I didn’t think much of it then, I just knew I liked the name well enough. Had I been named “Little Feather” as my younger sister Liz was, it just wouldn’t have suited me. I was always one of the tallest in my class as well as the oldest and biggest amongst my cousins. So much depends upon a name... even more than a red wheelbarrow methinks. :) What’s the story behind your name or a nickname or an aspect of your name?
I am excited because I did my first intuitive reading and painting for someone today. I know that that sounds woo woo to some- I am not saying that this is science but it is art. And art is intuitive - the tiny problems we solve as we paint or write are not outlined exactly for you in a textbook like algebra (though sometimes I wish it was!). Art is learned through experience and intuition - yes it is a skill that can be learned, but when something is elevated to art, (many things too like great teaching or catching a fly ball when someone turns around completely not looking at the ball, hauls down the field and knows where and when to turn and catch) it moves from skill to art when intuition is involved.
An Artful Life: Speaking of art - the way we breathe even can be artful. I am reading a great book, Breath- the New Science of a Lost Art. It is a great resource to have on hand when I want to look up a variety of ways to do breath work. My goal is to be able to live my entire life, finances, work, relationships, etc. as if I were creating a painting or dancing a dance. I am sorry to say I do not live my life this creatively when it comes to doing things like cleaning and organizing but the idea keeps coming up. When I hear some people think of every minute of every day like a canvas it makes excited to create more beauty in the every day and even do my laundry. Maybe I will do that for a 100 day project. Hmmm… I am joining an 84 day project soon. Still haven’t decided what I am going to do for it. It starts May 29th. I love being in community with others doing the same thing - we bond through the shared experience. Want to do it? If you do, the link for Sarah’s Creative Soul Retrieval is here: Creative Soul Retrieval. Come along:)!!!
